Young Bohemia Festival in Praga

The young 2020 bohemia prague festival will be already the seventeenth edition in the line of young bohemia festivals (former young prague festivals).

The event was established in 2003 and it soon became known worldwide as the most popular venue for young people aged 8-26 having an active interest in music and choir singing.

Once again, the Organizers, as in previous years, expect to welcome up to a thousand young people from all over the world in 2020.

The friendly, cultural ambience of Prague as a venue is unique. Participants will have a chance to show their talent and skill, meet new friends and at the same time to enjoy the beauty of probably the most attractive city in Central Europe.

Day 1: Arrivals of ensembles. Dinner in festival hotels.


Day 2: Reception of group leaders by the city of Prague representative. Festival opening concert. Choirs&orchestras competition (non-competing ensembles city tour and/or watch the competition). Dinner in festival hotels. Get-together party.

Day 3: Festive parade through city centre culminating with joint composition. Concerts and performances in city centre and/or churches. Dinner in festival hotels. AWARDS and Disco Party.

Day 4: Individual departures after Breakfast.

Accommodation for students usually is in four or three-bedded rooms. Some twin rooms also may be available.

The price does not include:

  • transportation. (Please note that organizers would be happy to arrange transportation to/from festival functions as per your requirements.)
The festival consists of two parts: A – public presentations; B – competition. Participating ensembles decide their participation format. Participants shall be young orchestras and choirs in both categories.

Public presentations

Participants – choirs, orchestras and other music ensembles (even non-traditional) – shall have one or two performances as required and will learn and rehearse and perform one joint composition with all the other participants.

Competition part

The orchestra competition shall have five categories

  1. brass/winds music orchestras
  2. symphonic&string orchestras
  3. jazz orchestras
  4. folklore music (music or music+singing)
  5. pop and other.

The choir competition shall have five categories

  1. mixed choirs
  2. boys/young man Choirs
  3. girls Choirs
  4. children Choirs
  5. spiritual/gospel./jazz/pop

In the categories mixed choirs, boys/young man choirs, girls choirs and children choirs one composition from a Czech composer shall be compulsory
