Itinerary
 

1 ST DAY: MADRID  


Arrival in Madrid, the vibrant capital of Spain, and greeting by your Music Contact International Tour Director. Settle down and refresh at the hotel before joining your tour escort for a short walk around the city to gather your first impressions of this magnificent place. Dinner at the hotel in the early evening.


2ND DAY: MADRID - MÉRIDA - SEVILLA 
Departure from the hotel after breakfast. Drive eastwards on a modern highway towards Extremadura, a relaxing drive via Trujillo, hometown of "The Conquistadores", the discoverers of the new world. Continue on to Merida, known as Emerita Augusta during the Roman period. We will visit its ruins as well as it Roman anfitheatre, where still are performed nowdays opera and classic masterpieces. Lunch and continue on Sevilla, arriving at the Hotel in the evening.


3 RD DAY: SEVILLA   


After breakfast ready for an extensive tour of the Cathedral, the second largest in the Catholic world after St. Peters in Rome. The Santa Cruz Quarter, a natural scenario of "Carmen" as well as precisely where the myth of "Don Juan" developed. The Maria Luisa Park and the Spain square. Afternoon at leisure for you to discover exclusive views, specific flavours of this active, full of light city. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.

A concert together with a local choir can be arranged for this evening.
 

4 TH DAY: SEVILLA - CÓRDOBA - GRANADA   


After breakfast leave towards Cordoba visit the city that once was the capital of the Caliphate, its impressive "Mosque" today a Cathedral. Walk through its narrow streets of the Jewish Quarter. And also its Synagogue. Lunch in a local restaurant and drive in the afternoon thorough the breathtaking mountain landscapes of the Sub-Betica mountains along the villages of the Caliphate as Espejo, Castro del Rio and Baena. On arrival in Granada, evening at leisure to explore the city on your own. Accommodation at the hotel.


5 TH DAY: GRANADA - VALENCIA

 

Breakfast. A city tour of Granada and its amazing monumental environment is waiting for us. It was the last stronghold of the Moorish Kindoms up to 1492. The "Alhambra" (Red Palace), the Generalife and many other buildings fountains, gardens, patios that have inspired several authors with its sound and sight, such as the "Tales of the Alhambra" by W. Irving. In the early afternoon start driving looking for the Mediterranean coast, via Murcia, capital of the fertile garden of the Segura river. Continue north via Alicante the second largest city within the autonomous region land of Valencia. Reach Valencia capital city of the province. Dinner and accommodation at the hotel.


6 TH DAY: VALENCIA - BARCELONA

Breakfast. Morning at leisure to discover the beauty of the city. Great gastronomic values rice dishes and the home of the internationally renowned "Paella". Afternoon departure along the coast line towards the third city of the region, Castellon de La Plana and onwards to Catalunya via Reus and Tarragona, the Roman Tarraco. Continue on to Barcelona. Accommodation at the hotel.


7 TH DAY: BARCELONA 


Breakfast and accommodation at the hotel. Morning city tour of Barcelona well known world wide for the Olimpic Games during 1992. Drive along the main avenues, with impressive buildings by Gaudi, symbol of the Catalonian modernisme. The Gothic Quarter, Cathedral, Generalitat Palace, the City Hall, Spanish Village. Afternoon is for you to keep on discovering this city full atractive offers, musical shows as well as exquisite and varied gastronomy.

A chance to meet a Spanish choir and exchange musical experiences in a relaxed ambiance.
 

8 TH DAY: BARCELONA - ZARAGOZA - MADRID 


Breakfast. Early departure from the hotel southwest towards Zaragoza, the capital city of Aragon, within the banks of the Ebro river, the largest in the Iberian Peninsula. Zaragoza known as "Cesar Augusta" during the Roman period, played an important role in Spanish history. You will enjoy some free time to see the impressive Barroque architecture of the Basilic-Temple of Our Lady Pilar. Lunch at a local restaurant. Continue the trip to Madrid through the historic villages of La Almunia de Doña Godina, Calatayud, Guadalajara and the University town of Alcala de Henares. Accommodation at the HOtel upon arrival in Madrid.


9 TH DAY: MADRID - DEPARTURE  


Breakfast and transfer to Madrid Airport for your international flight home.

Planning: We plan each concert tour following the wishes and best interests of the choir. According to the choir's profile, we plan venue locations, musical requirements, length and time of travel, accommodation, expert multilingual assistance, tour guides, budget, and a thousand more details - each is shaped to meet individual requirements of each choir.

Concert Options: Performances and concerts for the choir can be arranged in Madrid,Sevilla or Barcelona depending on final itinerary

Tour Options: The tour especified above is a sample of a concert tour that can be made to measure for the choir. This concert tour can be enhanced, for example, by adding two nights in the Costa Brava (near Barcelona) to enjoy its famous beaches and relax. One additional night in Madrid would give the choir the chance of visiting charming Toledo, a monumental jewel. Tour may start in Madrid and finish in Barcelona. The cost of the tour will be adjusted to the choir's budget according to time of travel and Hotel accommodation ranging from tourist class to first class or delux.

In mid-autumn, Spain is our venue of choice for the Choral Festival Cantate Barcelona in the Barcelona area. November and December are full of activity with two large festivals during Advent in Prague and Vienna, thus bringing our choral year to a close. Music Contact International offers also the possibility to organize tailor-made Tours for Choirs that can include and itinerary of concerts, visits and meetings of international Choirs in characteristic venues of great cities. An interesting workshop is also available in Prague for choirs wishing to develop and acquire new techniques. We also organize music festivals for  marching bands, brass bands and orchestras every year in Prague, Luxemburg, Cologne, Italy and Dublin.
