Event profile
By invitation of the Cultural Affairs Department of the City of Vienna, Austria, choirs from all over the world sing in Vienna during the Advent season. Visit Schloss Schonbrunn, which was once the home of Maria Theresa and the summer residence of the Hapsburg family. Invitational Choral Festival open to all choral types.

PROGRAMME
 

THURSDAY:
Arrival in Viena. Meet the Music Contact programme coordinator. Dinner in a Restaurant. Accommodation at the Hotel.

FRIDAY:
Breakast at the Hotel. Guided sightseeing tour of the city visiting some of the most relevant sights, -The Opera, The University, The Town Hall, The Parlament, The Court of Justice, The Burgtheater etc. The visit will be followed by lunch in a restaurant. In the afternoon your choir will sing in the Town Hall of the City.

SATURDAY:
Breakfast at the Hotel. Morning at leisure to discover and enjoy the city. Enthusiatic shoppers should look around the pedestrian area of the Kaertner Strasse and around St. Stephansdom.
Afternoon concert in a social residence of the city. Evening dinner in a typical tavern of charming Gumpoldskirchen.

SUNDAY:
After breakfast, you will be able to sing during Holy Mass, in one of the beautiful churches of Viena or, optionally, sing in the open air in a pedestrian area of the city centre. The afternoon is free. A visist to a famous vienese cafe is a must. Try Demel, Sacher or Hawelka all offering countless types of coffee such as Schwarzer, Melange, Einspanner, Brauner etc., and a large selection of cakes to go with it.
In the evening, join all participating choirs for an aperitiv, sing alltogether "Ode an die Freude" by L.V.Beethoven and collect your diploma.

MONDAY:
Depart Viena after breakfast.

 

NOTE:


Final details of the specific program for each choir will be made specially for every participating choir in conjunction with the overall organisation committee of the event.

THE BASIC PROGRAM INCLUDES

4 nights in a **** Hotel.
Dinner in a restaurant on arrival day.
Daily continental breakfast.
One lunch
One guided visit of the city.
One concert during Holy Mass at a Vienese church.
One concert in a social venue.
One concert at the Viena Town Hall.
Evening with dinner at a typical tavern in Gumpoldskirchen.
Closing ceremony.

In mid-autumn, Spain is our venue of choice for the Choral Festival Cantate Barcelona in the Barcelona area. November and December are full of activity with two large festivals during Advent in Prague and Vienna, thus bringing our choral year to a close. Music Contact International offers also the possibility to organize tailor-made Tours for Choirs that can include and itinerary of concerts, visits and meetings of international Choirs in characteristic venues of great cities. An interesting workshop is also available in Prague for choirs wishing to develop and acquire new techniques. We also organize music festivals for  marching bands, brass bands and orchestras every year in Prague, Luxemburg, Cologne, Italy and Dublin.
